Discomfort + Growth

Discomfort + Growth

Discomfort provides an opportunity for growth.

Whether we choose it or not, I believe that some of the greatest growth in our lives happens when we are provided a safe and encouraging place to be uncomfortable and actively choose to grow in that area.

This is exactly what I witnessed today with our oldest son, Jayden. He was invited into a safe and encouraging place for him to serve and be stretched.

I was asked to come and help serve at The SPA by Life in the Spirit in San Clemente.

Once a month, the founder of the S.P.A., Candi Christman, opens up a space for people to come receive healing prayer, prophetic ministry and prophetic art.

An astounding and faithful team from all over Southern Orange County come and volunteer their time for free to love on those attending. It’s a beautiful and powerful time to draw closer to God and encounter Jesus.

Today, Jayden and I had the blessing of serving and doing prophetic art for those attending.

However, the 24hrs leading up to this morning I was not too sure if I had made the right decision of committing. As I started to see the traces of nervousness and fear creep into his face and voice. I had one of those, “did I make the right decision?” parental moment.

Conversations about being “others minded” is constant in our home and we practice it routinely, however this felt uncomfortable on a whole new level for him.

The testimony that will be pulling on my momma heart strings all week is that TODAY Jayden embraced the discomfort of unfamiliarity and soared. He sat next to me in a room filled with adults prophesying and prayed over people as they came into the room. he one by one released prophetic art and words of life and encouragement over them.

The best part is he can’t wait to go back and serve at the next S.P.A.

There is no junior Holy Spirit and it was apparent to those being ministered to today.

When was a time you felt uncomfortable, but chose to use it as an opportunity to grow in an area?
